‘Home is behind

Until the stars are all alight’[Written by Howard Shore, Philippa Boyens, Billy Boyd • Copyright © Warner/Chappell Music, Inc, Universal Music Publishing Group]
Happy new year, everyone! I hope you had the best time welcoming 2017. 🙂 I was very impatient to get to the start of the new year because I had so many things to look forward to. First, of course, the new episode of Sherlock, which did not disappoint (I shall say no more because I don’t want to spoil anything). I can’t believe I’ve to wait another week for the next one! Secondly, my new book blog is now officially “live”. I’m still working on the schedule, but I’m beyond excited about it. I bet you can tell. 😉
Continuing a tradition I started last year, I made a list of 17 things I’d like to accomplish this year. Some of them have spilled over from last year, but I’m determined to complete them all this year. I’m hoping that putting them up here for the world to see will keep me on track. Only time will tell, I suppose. I put them in different colours to liven things up.
If you’ve read this post, you already know that things are changing on Pages That Rustle. I have a lot of free time, at least for the first half of the year, which means more time to write. I shared my idea (the one for which I wrote 50k in NaNoWriMo) with two of my friends who told me it was a story worth completing, so I’m planning to finish at least one draft by June. I’m going to share my progress with you all via a monthly blog post as an added incentive for me to sit down and write. I really hope I finish it this time.
What are your goals for this year? Any resolutions? Let me know in the comments, or leave a link if you’ve posted about it on your blog. Also, if you’re curious about my new blog, check it out here (I included ways for people not on Tumblr to be able to follow too).
I will try to complete the “52 short stories in 52 weeks” challenge, thus forcing myself to write everyday like any writer ought to do. I’ve challenged myself through Goodreads to read 50 books this year. I expect most of those to be read over the summer and during spring break, but we’ll see. I plan to work better on my businesses; I’m a consultant for two direct sales companies, and I run my own Etsy shop as well as one with my brother.

That sounds wonderful! You seem to have your hands full this year. Good luck with the challenges and your businesses, Mary. May 2017 be filled with successes for you! 🙂

EEK! SHERLOCK! OMG, IT WAS SO GOOD! I kinda felt sorry for John, now that he lost Mary, but seriously, he was CHEATING on her? Uggghr, and now Sherlock had no ‘assistant’. I wish John would forgive Sherlock and I know he made a vow and all but…. And YES, we discover so much more about Mary’s past. I WANT Moriarty to be back so badly, but apparently, we are getting a new villain!? Oh, and Vivian just got on my nerves, stupid women… I CANNOT WAIT TILL THE NEXT EP.
Sorry for that little fangirling moment, onto the real post! Just followed le new blog and good luck with finished that novel, the new blog, and 2017!

Thank you so much. 🙂
Haha, I can excuse that fangirling moment. I was devastated after that episode and I cried so much towards the end! Even I haven’t wrapped my head around the cheating. But was it just the texting or was there more? They never give you the full picture, do they?
I wish Watson forgive Sherlock too! And I also wish people would stop shooting Sherlock. The man has “died” and recovered from a gunshot wound already. Why can’t they cut him some slack?
I think the new villain will be introduced in the next episode, but the last one has the “posthumous game” Sherlock mentions. I base that off of the canon because the last episode is called ‘The Final Problem’ and that was played out between Moriarty and Sherlock. So, fingers crossed. I can’t wait either. One week is too much!

Your 2017 goals are great 🙂 I do hope you accomplish all of them and have a blessed year ahead 🙂 It’s great to see that you are going to give full attention to your books too, all the best! I have only one resolution and that is to complete my own book 😀

Thank you, Deepika. 🙂 That’s a very achievable goal and I hope you accomplish it. We can share our progress and encourage each other then. All the best to you too! 😀

Man, now I feel like I should have made more goals for 2017. Everyone else’s New Year post features so many goal and in so many areas of life – and I only had 4 or 5, all writing related. XD
Your goals, though. I love them, Nandini, and how you also wrote them down in different colors. (Your handwriting is beautiful, too!) The one that stood out most to me was #5. I think we forget sometimes that happiness doesn’t simply come to us, but that we have to create it for ourselves and find it through gratitude and wonder. It’s a healthy philosophy to live by, and it can take you a lot farther in life than you’d ever expect.

That’s alright, Sara. Lesser goals means more the chances that you finish them all. I really hope you do! 🙂
Thank you! 🙂 In India we all learn to write in cursive, but I tried to be extra neat for this. 😛 I felt like I should write #5 down even though it was philosophical because I have put up this list in a place I can see every day and I wanted to be reminded of it on bad days or in difficult times.
Your comments never fail to make me smile. 🙂

You opened this up with LOTR song quote! My mind is already wandering off into Middle Earth for an adventure now! ^_^
I watched Sherlock too, and it was every bit I’d hoped it would be! Cannot wait for next Sunday!
This year, I’m carrying over my resolution from last year to finally polish up and publish the book I’ve been working on. I’d also like to take a dance or martial art class to keep fit, get better at drawing, improve my cooking skills, and keep a positive attitude. 🙂
Happy New Year, Nandini!

Yay, LotR! Getting lost in Middle Earth is the best daydream ever. 😀
Sunday can’t come soon enough, I tell you! 😛
Some really great resolutions there. Hope you keep them all and that positive attitude too. Happy new year! 🙂

That’s the one place in Middle Earth I want to visit more than any other! I think I’ll be a lot like Sam if I ever get the chance. 😛

Sam’s reaction was perfect! I would want to wonder everywhere in Lothlorien, so much that the elves might kick me out, haha. 🙂
