If you didn’t already know, I’m a huge fan of animated movies. Since yesterday, I’ve been binge-watching some Disney movies and done little else. I only paused now to talk about how awesome they are in this blog post and then I’ll go right back to it. Cause for concern? Probably. But animated movies are like a sugar-high without any of the side effects, and I can’t resist indulging.
It all started when I realised that I’ve been so busy reading that I haven’t watched any of the TV shows and movies that I want to. I’ve already read 20 books so far and my brain was craving for a little break. Looking through everything I had, I decided that something light-hearted would be just the thing. I started with Zootopia and then the addiction took hold of me. Seven movies later, after crying at the tender moments and laughing at all the silliness, my inner child is at peace, blasting out the lyrics to Hakuna Matata.
Now that I’ve stopped (temporarily), I was thinking about the reason behind this obsessive behaviour. Clearly, it is more than just a random choice of a bored young mind or I’d have stopped after the first one. The thing is, the movies make everything seem so simple and straight-forward. Sure, the protagonist might tumble off the cliff, but you know there’s going to be a tree branch and someone to pull them up because you’re only halfway through the movie. You know that it’s all going to resolve itself in the end no matter how bleak the situation. There’s always a happy ending (except for the bad guys).
I am quite aware that these stories are far removed from reality as life is so rarely that neat. It’s just that they fill me with confidence. Maybe tomorrow doesn’t hold sunshine and rainbows for me, but if I didn’t believe that some day in the near future did, then I would see no point in life at all. We all have dreams, goals and aspirations. Some might be achievable and some might not, but we have a mixture of both nonetheless. It’s when even the former seem impossibly out of reach that I take from my endless supply of hope – animated movies.
It’s time to hit the play button again. What form does your secret stash of hope take? Let me know in the comments section below.
I LIVE FOR DISNEY!!!😍

Honestly, that’s one of the things I love about Avatar: The Last Airbender. I guess it’s pretty violence in some sense; there’s a lot of fighting. But practically no one dies. The animators will go out their way to show that some random bad guy minions who fell off a cliff are perfectly fine. Though I guess part of the point is also that, to a degree, there are no real bad guys. The LEADER of the bad guys might be really bad, but all the foot soldiers are just following orders and such. They’re probably ok people in the end.

I haven’t watched that one yet. Sounds pretty cool. Yeah, the minions seem to come to their senses and defect or just run away, but the main antagonist is shown as being too deep into his/her own schemes and so, incapable of redemption. After the climax, everyone is happy and playing together or some cute stuff like that. I love how nicely everything works out. 🙂

I love animated movies, and I’m always excited when I see that a new one is coming out! Their stories touch me in a way that few other movies do, and their lessons are so meaningful. ❤

I feel the same way. Some adults might dismiss them as kiddish, but I think that they have something to teach all of us. Also, there’s always an element of playfulness that brings me great joy in watching these kind of movies. 🙂

Disney is life. How could not fall in love with those movies and watch them on a loop?
But I know what you mean. I’ve been watching so much YouTube lately and have started teaching myself filming and video editing. Not exactly the same thing, but the inspiration is there.

Oh, that’s good to know! Are you planning to start a channel of your own sometime?
Disney is the best thing that happened to me in my childhood and I continue to cherish it even today. ❤

I am, yeah. Though it might not be a while. Between money, time, and still living with my parents… Lol.

That’s so cool! Even I wish I had the time. But I’m quite shy, so I’m not sure I would be any good at it.

I’m shy, too. I tend to be more outgoing and more “me” on the Internet than in person, though. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not, lol.

Even I find that it’s easier to become friends and talk to people online than in person. I have more blogging friends than in my real life. 😂 It’s probably because it’s easier to find like-minded people on the internet than in, say, a classroom full of kids. I’m sure there’s nothing wrong with that. At least, I hope not.

I do too! Lol.
I agree. In this day and age, it’s harder and harder to make friends in real life because you just don’t know people.
If there is something wrong with it, I’m sure we’re not the only ones. So at least we’re not alone, lol.

I can sleep easy knowing that. 😂

I love a good animated movie now and then. The Lion King, Wall-E, Lilo and Stitch, Shrek, Finding Nemo… and I saw Moana on New Years Eve, and it made me cry happy tears. 🙂 To me, if a movie tells a good story, it doesn’t matter whether it’s animated or live action.

I agree. It’s the story that is important to me too. I think a lot of adults (or maybe it’s just the case where I live) dismiss them as movies for kids, whereas I’m sure everyone can learn a few things even from animated movies. Also, they’re perfect if one needs a pick-me-up. 😊
