I don’t have much time on my hands today and I really couldn’t schedule this post beforehand, so I was looking to write a short post this time around. This gave me a sudden inspiration. Although I’d originally conceived this series to be a book discussion (and fangirl feels outlet), I decided to include the movies as well. After all, why not? The movies introduced me to the books and The Lord of the Rings is the highest Oscar-winning movie series till date. Purists might discard the films as crass commercialization and call it but a shadow of the published works, but the movies did get a lot of things right. The first thing that comes to my mind is the soundtrack.
Never have I been so excited about a new series on the blog, or more nervous. My first association with The Lord of the Rings series happened when I was 10 years old. I watched the entire movie trilogy with my family and I was instantly impressed. I finished reading the series in 8th grade and I vividly remember that it took me 3 weeks to complete it. I had taken a few days of sick leave and I had the book with me throughout. Ever since, I have never truly let go of it. I make it a point to watch the trilogy and read the books every year at least. If this hasn’t already told you how crazy I am about this series, perhaps the blog posts that I have in store for September will.
Who thought holidays could be more stressful than the months I have to attend college? Strangely, I find myself having no time to do the things I want to finish and having all the time in the world to complete TV series in record time during my semesters. Another example of time being a vindictive creature, I suppose. Putting aside selfish concerns for a bit, I decided to write something, anything, to take my mind off of things. Here is the result (Incidentally, it fits this week’s Friday Fiction with Ronovan Writes Prompt Challenge #33 – Favourite Food).
An excellent post that I couldn’t resist sharing. It puts all of my feelings for Professor Tolkien’s work into words and I couldn’t have done it better myself. After reading this, I went to my Fangirl Level: Max state. 😀
